This event is a time for us to come together as a studio and watch what we will be showcasing in the upcoming competitions. It is a time for us to celebrate the Spiral community and for the dancers to share their hard work and creative expression on stage – often for the first time.
The concept all began eleven years ago when a dance parent, Suzy Milne created the show in the spirit of mutual support and celebration, by allowing the dancers the opportunity to see their peers perform their masterpieces. The senior dancers act as role models for the younger dancers, inspiring them to strive towards excellence, and we become united as a whole to go together into the competitive season.
Since Suzy’s time, many other dance parents have taken on the challenge of continuing the tradition. It is due to these parents’ commitment to their children’s love of dance that we have kept it going for 11 years.
Did you know?
It is also a dance parent whom we honour by using the proceeds for a scholarship in her name. The Debbie Lillejord Memorial Scholarship Fund honours a senior dancer who will be continuing on in dance studies. Debbie Lillejord’s beautiful daughters danced throughout their youth at Spiral and now one of them, Sydney Bradford, is on faculty. Debbie saw the positive ways dance shaped her children’s lives and appreciated both the dedication and expense this pathway holds. When she passed, her husband set up a scholarship fund for dancers who wanted to further their dance careers. It is our goal to honour that generous gift as well as honour the dancers performing. This scholarship will perhaps ensure that we may all continue to enjoy watching these same talented dancers in the future.
Donations for the scholarship fund will also be accepted at the door. A very special thank you to all the parents involved in helping put this show together!
